The honest version: most people who try to make money online quit before they hit $100. Not because it's hard, but because the "guides" they read are written by people who already make $10k/mo and have forgotten what day 1 looks like. This guide is written for day 1. It's not the fastest way to $10k. It's the fastest way to $100, then $1k, then $10k — by building the right foundation.

The 5 tools you'll use

Before we get into paths, here's the stack. We use these 5 tools for everything — and you'll use them too. All 5 are free to start, and all are affiliate-supported on this site (we earn a commission if you upgrade).

  1. ClickFunnels — the funnel builder for selling a service or product. 14-day free trial.
  2. Systeme.io — all-in-one for email + funnels + courses + blog. Free plan: 2,000 contacts.
  3. Moosend — email tool for newsletters and broadcast emails. Free up to 1,000 subscribers.
  4. I'm All In Bundle — if you commit to ClickFunnels, the cheapest way to lock in 12 months ($1,970).
  5. Dealify — lifetime software deals to fill out your tool stack at one-time prices.

The 4 paths to $100

There are basically four ways to make your first $100 online. Pick one. Trying to do all four at once is the #1 reason people quit.

Path 1: Sell a service (fastest, 1-2 weeks)

How it works: You already have a skill — writing, design, video editing, translation, voiceover, data entry, etc. You package it as a $50-200 service on your own landing page, market it on social, and deliver it. The first $100 is the hardest; after that, it's repeat customers + referrals.

What you use:

  • ClickFunnels (14-day free trial) to build a simple "hire me" landing page with an order form. Takes one afternoon.
  • Systeme.io (free plan) for the follow-up email sequence after someone buys.
  • Social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok) for marketing. Pick one. Don't try to be everywhere.

The math: 2 sales at $50 = $100. Or 1 sale at $100. Realistically, you'll need 5-10 sales conversations to land 2 sales. The funnel page converts ~3-5% of visitors, so you need ~100 visitors to make 1 sale. The work is getting those 100 visitors.

The catch: trading time for money, but the first $100 is the most important. It validates that people will pay you.

Path 2: Start a niche newsletter (1-3 months)

How it works: Pick a niche (productivity for designers, AI for indie founders, marketing for therapists, whatever). Write a weekly newsletter. Grow to 1,000 subscribers. Monetize via affiliate links to tools you use (which is what this site does).

What you use:

  • Moosend (free for up to 1,000 subscribers) for sending broadcasts. Best deliverability in the price range.
  • Systeme.io (free plan) for the landing page where people subscribe.
  • One platform for distribution (Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, niche forums) to drive subscribers.

The math: 1,000 subscribers × 30% open rate × 5% click rate × 30% conversion on affiliate = ~4.5 sales per newsletter. At $50 avg commission, that's $225 per newsletter. Two newsletters a month = $450/mo. The compounding happens as your list grows.

The catch: newsletters take 3-6 months to reach monetization threshold. The first $100 from a newsletter is rare; the $1,000/mo is more common once you cross 1,000 subscribers.

Path 3: Sell a digital product (1-4 weeks)

How it works: Create a small digital product — a $29 template pack, a $49 mini-course, a $19 eBook, a $99 swipe file. Sell it through a landing page + email sequence. The product is one-time work; the sales are recurring.

What you use:

  • Systeme.io (free plan) to host the product (course player, payment processing, delivery — all included free). Or use the Startup plan ($27/mo) if you want the affiliate program management built in.
  • ClickFunnels (14-day free trial) for the sales page. The one-click upsell feature alone can 2-3x your revenue per visitor.
  • Moosend for the email sequence (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase). Or use Systeme.io's built-in email.

The math: 5 sales at $20 = $100. Or 2 sales at $50. The product creation takes 1-2 weekends (especially with AI tools). The funnel takes another weekend. The hardest part is driving traffic — 200-500 visitors to your sales page.

The catch: the product needs to solve a real problem. Generic "AI prompts pack" doesn't sell. Niche "AI prompts for real estate agents" does.

Path 4: Build a content site like this one (1-3 months)

How it works: Build a review/comparison site in a niche you know. Write deep, honest reviews. Apply to affiliate programs. Monetize when readers click your links and sign up.

What you use:

  • A website — this whole site is hosted on GitHub Pages for $0, with a custom domain. You can replicate the model.
  • Moosend for the email list (start collecting emails from day 1).
  • SEO time — the slow burn. 6-12 months to meaningful traffic, but compounds forever.

The math: Sites like this one typically hit $100/mo within 3-6 months and $1k/mo within 12-18 months. The first $100 is hard. The $10k/mo is achievable if you stick with it.

The catch: most content sites die in year one because the writer quits. If you stick with it for 18 months, you'll likely be making $500+/mo from a small, focused site.

Which path is right for you?

Quick decision tree:

  • Need money in 1-2 weeks? Path 1 (sell a service)
  • Have a niche you know deeply? Path 2 (newsletter) or Path 4 (content site)
  • Can create a $20-50 product in a weekend? Path 3 (digital product)
  • No skill yet but willing to learn? Path 1 with a service you can learn in a week (data entry, transcription, basic video editing with AI)
  • Want long-term compounding income? Path 4 (content site) — but pair it with Path 1 or 3 in the short term

A realistic 30-day plan

Here's what 30 days looks like for the most common case — you have a skill, you want to make $100 in the next 30 days, and you want a path that compounds:

Days 1-3: Set up ClickFunnels (14-day trial) + Systeme.io (free plan). Build a one-page funnel: "I help [audience] with [outcome] for $X." Takes one afternoon.

Days 4-7: Post your offer in 5-10 places where your audience already hangs out. Twitter, LinkedIn, niche forums, Slack groups, Discord servers. Don't be salesy — lead with value + a clear CTA.

Days 8-14: Reply to every response within 1 hour. Get on 3-5 sales calls. Close 1-2 sales. You should be at or near $100 by day 14.

Days 15-21: Set up an email sequence in Moosend or Systeme.io for past buyers. Ask for referrals, offer a $50 upsell, or just stay in touch for repeat business.

Days 22-30: Decide: is this a one-time thing (great, you made $100) or is this the start of a business? If the latter, decide what to scale — a service business, a digital product, a newsletter, a content site.

The stacking strategy (advanced)

Once you've validated one path, the real money is in stacking:

  • Service business + digital product (your $50 service becomes a $29 template + $50 service bundle)
  • Newsletter + affiliate site (your newsletter drives traffic to your affiliate articles)
  • Content site + newsletter (your site collects emails, your newsletter monetizes them)

The 5 tools support all of these. Systeme.io replaces 4-5 separate tools. ClickFunnels handles the high-ticket sales. Moosend handles the email. Dealify saves you money on the misc tools you need.

What to skip

Don't get distracted by:

  • Crypto trading — 95% lose money. Not on this list.
  • Dropshipping — high capital requirement, low margins, saturated. Not in our 5 tools.
  • MLM / network marketing — not a business model, it's a recruiting scheme. Avoid.
  • "$10k in 30 days" courses — if the course is the path to $10k, the course seller is the one making $10k, not you.

Getting paid (for non-US users)

Most of the 5 tools pay out via PayPal or direct bank transfer. For non-US users:

  • ClickFunnels, I'm All In, Systeme.io, Moosend — all pay via PayPal. Some also offer wire transfer (high minimums, $100+ fees).
  • PayPal works in 200+ countries. Set up a PayPal Business account (free) to receive affiliate commissions.
  • Payoneer is a good backup for platforms that pay via ACH/bank wire only. Not currently on our affiliate list but a common tool.
  • Wise for currency conversion (mid-market rate, lowest fees).

Set up PayPal + Payoneer + Wise first, before you start the 30-day plan. The last thing you want is to make your first $100 and not be able to receive it.

The honest version

You have four paths. The fastest one to your first $100 is Path 1 (sell a service). The most compounding is Path 2 or 4 (newsletter / content site). The most predictable is Path 3 (digital product). The 5 tools work for all four.

Most people who don't make $100 spend too much time "learning" and not enough time selling or publishing. The trick is to start before you feel ready. The first $100 is a forcing function — once you've made it, you know you can make another one.

Pick a path. Start today. The 5 tools are free or free-trial. The only thing keeping you from $100 is the work.
